The Magic Flute -Queen of the Night

In my re-imagination of Mozart: The Magic Flute, I established a foreboding, mysterious atmosphere with low lighting and stage fog- this pushed me to focus more on silhouettes as the characters needed to be easily distinguishable.

I was interested in creating an alluring yet disturbing world in which the portrayal of the fight between good and evil, light and dark isn’t as straightforward as children’s stories usually make it out to be. This is my exploration of the „morally grey zone” where even the audience is hesitant in choosing sides. The clashing of two different worlds that perhaps are fundamentally one and the same.
